It's still the Year of the Rooster! The Rooster is the tenth sign of the twelve-year cycle of animals that appear in the Chinese zodiac related to the Chinese calendar. Until February 15th, we'll be keeping an eye out for all the special little roosters that reside here among all our vintage treasures... have you spotted any of these guys in the shop?
An antique wardrobe was tucked into this lovely winterscape, designed and created by artist Brittany Solem. The dress and trees were so intricate it was easy to forget they were all made of paper.
Welcome home! This display celebrated how strangers can come together to form a family. Choosing random faces from our collection of vintage and antique photographs, we built a family tree of sorts, hovering warmly over an elegant Thanksgiving table.
Our cheerful red cardinals did a lot of people-watching from their perches in our snowy window. The centerpiece was a vintage brass bed covered in soft white linens.
This graceful springtime window featured gorgeous vintage kimonos, our collection of gleaming lusterware tea sets, and white tree branches with paper blossoms.
Local artist and designer Brittany Solem creates many of our gorgeous window displays. One of our favorites was this Narnia-inspired winterscape. Her cut-paper trees were extraordinary.
This Thanksgiving 2014 window had a cool industrial look to it. Featuring oversized metal baking tins hovering over an antique wooden worktable, with metal bakeware and bright wooden rolling pins, we were tempted to start making pies right in the window.
The historic English Building, as seen from the sidewalk outside EBM Vintage.
We transformed the window into a living room filled with mid-century modern furniture and dotted with old globes, funky lamps, and a little greenery.
This colorful window featured accents made out of newspaper (see the pillow?). It also had two twin beds, covered entirely in newspaper "sheets" and "pillowcases."
The window became a circus in the summer of 2015, featuring silhouettes of animals, siamese-twin mannequins, and daring acrobats.
One of our most memorable windows - people ask us all the time if we ever plan to bring this one back!
This would make a fabulous Thanksgiving table, as long as you could keep the silver from floating away before dessert.
We've been a part of the 9th Square neighborhood in downtown New Haven for a whopping ten years! One thing we've been very proud of throughout the decade is our tradition of beautiful window displays. Here's a mini-retrospective of some of our favorites!
